Hi Zabek. More changes have been made to the way the ads overlap the sidebar now. Are there still any problems with it? Are tables still not showing up correctly? Could you give me a link that shows the problem please?

The user preference choice of languages creates a slight problem: What if a person wants to do what has always been done in Wikipedia, namely to see the system messages in whatever the language of the site actually is?

Jason is working on this to allow an option to enable site-specific preferences, so you could choose "Hebree language" on the Hebrew wiki but still have English for all the rest.

Currently, if I am logged in and working on the Hebrew version, the "Special Pages All System Messages" appears in English!!

Yes, I've noticed this problem as well. It might be worth requesting a solution to this in MediaZilla: since it's a general MediaWiki issue, not a Wikicities one.

Also, if I normally view the Hebrew site with English system messages, I don't learn where the Hebrew messages need to be updated.

Until site-specific preferences are enabled, you will need to switch your language to work on these.

Currently, rather than {SITENAME} they all still have <ויקיפדיה> = "Wikipedia", which needs to be changed to <מקר?> = "Miqra" (as well as namespace, etc.).

The he language file within MediaWiki should never have included the word "Wikipedia". This is slowly being fixed, but there's no fast way to do it.

Regarding the links, I'm not sure why but it still doesn't seem to work in Norwegian. Take a look.

Are these still a problem?

I noticed that the Hebrew site was using an English version of "system announcements", then one taken from Hebrew Wikipedia, and now for some reason it is back to the English version. Not knowing the alphabet it might be hard for you to replace "Wikipedia" (in Hebrew) with SITENAME. I could supply the relevant texts if that would be any help.Zabek 13:57, 8 Mar 2005 (GMT)

This could be because you have English set in your preferences. Does it work if you change that to Hebrew? Angela 19:10, 8 Mar 2005 (GMT)
No, I knew that couldn't be it because the tabs are in English too. I checked to make sure, and the "sytem messages" are all English-version too.Zabek 20:44, 8 Mar 2005 (GMT)
I'm not sure what you mean by this. Could you explain what needs to be changed exactly please? Angela 04:45, 12 Mar 2005 (GMT)

Re: Miqra summary Edit

Thanks for the summary of the remaining issues. For the audio files, I suggest uploading them to one language, and we'll try to get a shared directory set up as soon as possible. I'd ignore the 100K upload note. It's just a default of MediaWiki, and doesn't need to apply here. I'm not sure what the real limit is. Probably at least 2MB though. If you need it to be higher than this, please let me know.

I added the IE problem to bug 87.

It's not easy for us to obtain a copy of the current Hebrew Wikipedia version of the messages. These are not made available other than by downloading the entire he.wikipedia database. This is a fault of the MediaWiki language files, which bear little relationship to the interface messages used on Wikipedia now. I'll see if Jason can do this, but it may be quicker to update them manually, or to find someone willing to fix the MediaWiki languagehe.php file so Wikicities and other sites can use it.

update: there is an easier way to get these. I've emailed you about it. Angela 03:44, 14 Mar 2005 (GMT)
