About Me
Hey, I'm Mathmagician. I began editing on Wikia in December of 2011. A few of my hobbies include computer programming, hiking, watching anime, baseball and playing video games. You can find me around Wikia doing various things here and there, as detailed below.
| >>> The story behind the username >>>
|
| I'm a recent alumni of the University of Washington, where I studied mathematics. My aspiring imagineer roommate observed that I had an affinity for magic, and henceforth I was entrusted with the sacred art of mathemagics. Having knightmares about your math homework? Purging your Laplacian in holy water will help. Sadly, my friend abandoned his imagineering duties in a questionable process known as "growing up" and now works as a computer engineer for Amazon. However, as you can tell by my username, I have in fact remained true to my calling.

Community Central
I'm an admin at Community Central and edit regularly in the Community Central forums, answering questions about wiki markup, Wikia features, templates, CSS, JavaScript, etc., as I have time available. If you're looking for help, feel free to stop by the forums!

Admin Mentor Program
As a contributor to the Admin Mentor Program, I try to help fellow administrators to improve their wikis and communities by increasing their knowledgebase and encouraging best practices. If you or someone you know are an admin of a small and growing wiki and are looking for a learning opportunity, please visit the AMP homepage and apply for mentorship.
| >>> Learn more about AMP >>>
|
| The Admin Mentor Program (AMP) (read more) is a project which aims to improve small but growing wikis by tutoring administrators on topics like setting up policies, Search Engine Optimization, basic or advanced coding, organizing content, settling user conflicts, etc. Emphasis in AMP is placed on learning, rather than doing — we won't do everything for you, but we will give you a helping hand and show you how to do it yourself. Contributors to AMP typically work in pairs: my partner is Surriela from the Aion Wiki. If you have any questions about AMP, feel free to contact myself, one of the other mentors, or Trella or Brandon from the Wikia Community Team who organized the project.

Wikia Developer's Wiki
I have authored or contributed to a number of scripts on the Wikia Developer's Wiki that are widely used by various Wikia wikis and Wikians, here's a few of my favorites:
| >>> A few scripts I've written >>>
|
- RevealAnonIP — converts "A Wikia contributor" to their actual IP address
- NoImageLightbox — disables Wikia's lightbox loader for images so that clicking on images takes you directly to the file page. Unlike other versions of this script, this one allows videos to still be played properly
- LockOldBlogs — used on Community Central and other wikis to lock commenting on old blog posts so they aren't bumped by spam
- ListFiles — powerful maintenance tool for monitoring usage of images on a wiki, similar to the special page Special:ListFiles but far more useful
|
| >>> Wikimarks >>>
|
| Wikimarks is a user script developed by Pecoes for the Oasis skin. I helped by waving a flag, er, testing and giving feedback. It's basically like bookmarks for wikis. It replaces the useless "On the Wiki" tab in the navigation menu with a fully customizable Wikimarks tab which is the answer to all your inter-wikia bookmark and navigation needs. Out of all the user scripts I've seen on Wikia, this is by far one of the most useful. If you're a Monobook user though, this script doesn't work for your skin yet, sorry :(
