• With the announcement of a spin off series, I plan on creating duplicate templates of my current infoboxes and navboxes. However, I want to change the color of the news boxes without altering the color of the pre-existing ones. How do I go about doing that?

    • You can create a span class for the new infoboxes and navboxes and change their color using CSS.

    • I should've elaborated. I know of the method in which a span class can be added to my CSS. That much I know.┬áBut I don't know how to start it.

    • I think that you would actually use div class. So before your template's code write:

      <div class="">

      Of course, put a name inside the quotes. After the template's code write:

    • Tried it. It changed the color of all the infoboxes

    • You could use theme-source

      In MediaWiki
      Using the same elements as .portable-infobox add the theme for "Series2"

      .portable-infobox.pi-theme-Series2.pi-background {
          background-color: xxxxxx;

      In Template:Episode
      Add theme-source

      <infobox theme-source="series">

      Using Template:Episode
      Include an additional variable. As no theme has been setup in MediaWiki for the original series, this will be ignored

      |series= Series2
      |name=Chapter One: The River's Edge

    • Thanks. That really helped. I almost got it done. I managed to change the color of the background of the template from blue to red, but the title, header, and navigation won't do the same despite the fact that I'm copying the code and adding in "Series2"

      Original series

      .portable-infobox .pi-title,
      .portable-infobox .pi-header,
      .portable-infobox .pi-navigation {
          background-color: #002041;

      Spin off

      .portable-infobox-theme-Series2 .pi-title,
      .portable-infobox-theme-Series2 .pi-header,
      .portable-infobox-theme-Series2 .pi-navigation {
          background-color: #410000;
        Loading editor
    • Try this edit with pi infront of theme

      .portable-infobox.pi-theme-Series2  .pi-title,
      .portable-infobox.pi-theme-Series2  .pi-header,
      .portable-infobox.pi-theme-Series2  .pi-navigation {
          background-color: #410000;
        Loading editor
    • That worked. One last thing, would this same method work with my navbox?
