  • I want to edit specific pages: Specifically a background/transparancy for specific pages and getting rid of that side bar on the right for specific pages (the table I have is all smooshed, I would like to utilize the while desktop window width.

    Background

    For the CSS, I am trying this: (page name is "test")

    .page-test {background-image: url(https://imgur.com/gallery/rx4ue)}

    But it is not working. Does the URL have to be a specific site? Am I better off uploading the image and then calling that? How do I edit transparency and location of the background once I load it in?

    Side Tab

    I somehow removed that right side bar on the home page of my wiki, but it is there on all other pages (live chat and recent wiki activity)

    How do I edit this/ remove it?

    Thank you!

      it have to be direct url to image, in ur case it is https://i.imgur.com/5VQZTo2.jpg

    • Regarding the right side bar, called the Rail, I believe removing that is a violation of Wikia's customization policy if used site wide. The right side can only be altered personally.

      Thank you, I will try that. Do you know the code for transparancy or position to edit the background for specific pages?

      Can you tell me how to alter it? Somehow I deleted it on the home page, no idea how I did it. I just don't know how to edit it.

    • Sorry I misunderstood you. I think it's ok to remove it from the home page, but it has to stay up on all other pages. I think you're fine.

      Ok thanks. Can you tell me how to edit it? I would like to utilize that space, but I cannot find anywhere I can edit it...

    • Do you mean you want the Recent Activity bar removed completely just for you, and for the width of article space to fill that space up?

      You may find some help on this page, I haven't tested it.

      Not for me, for anyone viewing the wiki.

    • Removing the Recent activity rail and increasing width of the content space isn't allowed for site wide use, you're only allowed to customize that for yourself. read this

    • The right column so see on the homepage is different from the right rail you see on the other pages. On the homepage, it is part of the page content that you set. On the other pages, it is external to the portion you edit and is considered a "standard" Wikia feature. As such, as Rolento already mentioned, removing it and/or components is not allowed (site-wide). However, you can add components and/or change their appearance.

      Here is an example of what I want to use. If that link doesn't work, I can easily upload it to imgur.

      Can you just tell me the correct formatting to put into the CSS to have a custom background for a specific page?

      Sorry, here it is

      http://fistoftruth.wikia.com/wiki/Fist_Of_Truth_Wiki

      How do you look at someone else's CSS? If I could do that, I could probably figure out all of my issues by looking at other people's.

    • it is overriden by skin. add body to overqualify it:

      body.page-Quadruple_Radiance_Empire {background-image: url('https://i.imgur.com/SS9z7fB.jpg')}

      background image for this page seems working after this change.

      Thank you for your help, but I still cannot get it to work. Is there a better place to get a tutorial on CSS or background code for FANDOM? A youtube channel or a forum post? Or is this the best place? I am sorry to waste your time, but I think I am going to need more help to get to do what I want.

    • actually, it works: https://snag.gy/ma6Gy1.jpg

      when u changing something in the css, do not forget to bypass cache. also, there is inner caching, and sometimes changes will not appear so fast as u waiting.

      Oh you are right! Thank you! Can you tell me what I can add to change transparency, resolution, and how to deal with a ' in the name of one page? Thanks again!

    • u need some css-guides, i guess. like Help:CSS best practices.

      u can use browser's inspector (f12 for chrome) to see page class: it added as class of body.
