  • Is there a method for specifically altering users' written chat text color in a similar fashion of customizing wiki colors for administrators¬†? For example, if I wanted to make a certain user's chat text appear blue, and another user's chat text color to be green so whatever they say in chat will appear in those set colors.

    • You may find a few of the examples in this box helpful. Add the code that you want to your MediaWiki:Wikia.css. Replace Some user name with the user's username and follow the instructions in the comments (this need to be applied manually on each certain user).

      	/* the user's username color above his messages */
      body.ChatWindow section#WikiaPage > .Chat li[data-user="Some user name"] .username {
      	color: orange
      }
      	/* the user's chat message color */
      body.ChatWindow section#WikiaPage > .Chat li[data-user="Some user name"] .message {
      	color: orange;
      }
      	/* the user's username color in the users rail */
      body.ChatWindow #Rail li[data-user="Some user name"] .username {

      }

      Also, if you import the custom chat JS and CSS pages, it's musch easier and doesn't require the body.ChatWindow prefix (also doesn't mix chat code with other wiki code).

      You dont have to do the individual users thing if you dont wanna.

      /* the user's username color above his messages */
      body.ChatWindow section#WikiaPage > .Chat .username {
      color: white;
      }
      /* the user's chat message color */
      body.ChatWindow section#WikiaPage > .Chat .message {
      color: white;
      }
      /* the user's username color in the users rail */
      body.ChatWindow #Rail .username {
      color: white;
      }

    • To clarify, CSS meant for chat should go on MediaWiki:Chat.css, not MediaWiki:Wikia.css.

    • As an alternative for the above, you can ask for JavaScript to be enabled on your wiki and write this code in MediaWiki:Chat.js:

      var chatags = { images: true, videos: true };
      importScriptPage('MediaWiki:ChatTags/code.js', 'shining-armor');

      If you don't want to use JS, then you can use the above options.
