The Setting[]
The future is here. Earth is a very crowded and dangerous place. The rich and powerful have beautiful plantations on luxury islands, or places to live within the far flung colonies in space. The poor live in the sprawling cities and metropolises of Earth. Because the working classes want little to do with the poor, they have been pushed into walled districts outside of the central cities, or worse – into the sprawling ghettos on the far outskirts of the city.
The World Government is controlled by mega-corporations. Many corporations wage private wars in space. Science and technology have created many hybrid “breeds” of humanity. Most breeds have a shelf life where the corporations can maintain control of their creations. Once past their shelf life, the breeds are sentenced to live within a special walled district of Central City known as the “Pike”. In the Pike their violent and unpredictable tendencies will go unnoticed by the more important classes of humanity.
The Pike is filled with paroled criminals, the unlucky, scumbags and breeds. It doesn’t matter what you are, only that you have been deemed to be troublesome. You are not expected to live long.
On the outskirts of the colonies there are hints of alien horrors. Cults have sprung up to worship the dark ones, and bring about the end of humanity.
