Hello, it's me.

I read Sannse's blog and I thought #yolo.

Cities Skylines 1

Today, I am introducing a newly created wikia, established on September 2015, about a recent-release city-building video game called Cities: Skylines for the PC (and soon-to-be Xbox One), developed by Colossal Order and published by Paradox Interactive. Cities: Skylines is a simulation city builder that let's you take on the role of a mayor, city planner, modder, and more.

Cities: Skylines has two expansion packs: one that has been released and one that was just recently announced a few days ago. With the recent announcement of an upcoming expansion pack, I thought about bringing in more contributors by promoting the wikia and building more pages to attract more readers before the expansion pack is released. This is no easy feat with me being the only contributor due to being a new wikia, slow start, and just being busy all the time.

This is where you come in and contribute to the cause. If you are interested in a city builder game, you might be very much interested in Cities Skylines as it has been one of the most popular Steam games of 2015 in terms of sales.[1]

Theme[]

Let's talk theme.

The theme of the wiki is a dark-blue color that blends in with the blueprint background of a city. Templates are usually a blue-transparent background, unrounded corners for simplicity. The main page is where the gold is at. The main page navigation is a simple directory of the game and expansion packs, as well as links to important articles. It is designed to be a low opacity on unhover and when hovered will "highlight" the navigation box. The rest of the main page includes a news blog listing, recent releases (inspired by The Sims Wiki), a main page poll, system requirements for the game, and a link to a wiki-feature: the fanon portal.

Content[]

Content comprises of the usual main stuff. But unlike most wikis, Skylines Wikia actually allows fanon articles within the main wiki. This will not only bring in more page counts (muahahaha), but to also incorporate one large community of modders and fanon. The ideology of Skylines Wikia is to bring in the community and to also comprise of informative content.

Now the idea of fanon of a city builder might be insane because it literally is just a game about cities and no characters; but generally speaking, the idea is to make a pretend city page, just as you would read a city page on Wikipedia. Add interesting notes about your city, from the well-being of the citizens, the tourist attractions, the economy, the land, and more. It's literally your own take of your city. Imagination is endless.

Mods are also permitted as long as links to the mods are directed to the official Steam Workshop.

How can you help?[]

Well it is simple.

We build.

Literally.

If you're still unsure of what to do, here's a couple guidelines to help you get started:

  • Make more informative pages - the more content pages, the better we do as a community
  • Add images, even if you're not an avid content editor, if you like pictures, add it in!
  • Make blogs about your city creations. Better yet, make a fanon article about it. It's all yours (fitting regulations).
  • And more

I hope this little promotion attracts more contributors. If you are interested, be sure to visit when you can! Contribute too!
