FANDOM Increasing HTTPS Support To Improve Security

Today we’d like to provide an update on two important FANDOM-related security topics, explaining a message users will see on Google Chrome and how FANDOM will be rolling out improved HTTPS support in the near future


Many web browsers are taking the lead in making users more aware of security concerns, most notably Google Chrome. Users of Chrome will notice in upcoming weeks that a "Not secure" message will appear on the address bar while filling in a number of forms around the FANDOM network, including when editing.


FANDOM has made plans to fully secure these tools in upcoming engineering cycles, but in the interim these forms do not transmit any personal data or private information and you will not be at risk using our tools. As always, we …

Technical Update: October 18, 2017

Here are the latest technical updates on FANDOM. Keep in mind that our system updates happen every Tuesday and Thursday - today's notes are for tomorrow's site update. Also note that we change hundreds of tiny details every week, so these are just the highlights.


As we announced on our Monday Technical Update post, FANDOM is shifting to a four-times-a-week release strategy. This change will begin next Monday, October 23rd. Releases will now occur on: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. FANDOM does not schedule code releases on Friday to prevent any bugged releases that might affect the site over the weekend.

Technical Update: October 16, 2017

Here are the latest technical updates on FANDOM. Keep in mind that our system updates happen every Tuesday and Thursday - today's notes are for tomorrow's site update. Also note that we change hundreds of tiny details every week, so these are just the highlights.


First, we'd like to announce that code releases on FANDOM will now regularly occur four times a week. This change will begin next Monday, October 23rd. This is a direct result of our experiment back in August. Internally, the experiment found we had the capacity to release code additional times per week without impacting the QA process or causing additional bugs.
