Technical Update: August 29, 2016

UPDATE: Due to an unexpected release blocker, today's release has been CANCELLED. We will release today's planned code on Thursday along with any additional fixes and changes.

Here are the latest technical updates at Wikia. Keep in mind that our system updates happen every Tuesday and Thursday - today's notes are for tomorrow's site update. Also note that we change hundreds of tiny details every week, so these are just the highlights.

Major Bug Fixes

• We will fix an issue in Discussions where admins and moderators were sometimes unable to successfully recategorize posts.
• The new global footer had a few incorrect links for international communities. These are now all properly pointing to the correct pages.

Other Notable Changes

Recent mobile app updates are listed on Apps Technical Updates, and detailed site CSS-related updates can be found at http://report.wikia.net

• The ability to create real world maps will be removed from the Wikia Maps feature, since real world maps are no longer functioning.
• This week we will begin running a script to remove real world maps from article pages.
