Here are the latest technical updates at Wikia. Keep in mind that our system updates happen every Tuesday and Thursday - today's notes are for tomorrow's site update. Also note that we change hundreds of tiny details every week, so these are just the highlights.

New Features

Keyboard shortcuts will be gaining some helpful new features tomorrow. No more fussing with access keys - simple letter presses can take you where you want to go. You can also filter a list of special functions and pages using a filterable list.

For more details, check out Help:Keyboard shortcuts or simply type '?' tomorrow. If you have feedback on this new feature, please send it in to Special:Contact/feedback!

Note: if you like the existing keyboard shortcuts, they will continue to be available.

Major Bug Fixes

  • An error that caused data-portable="false" to appear on some articles will be fixed.
  • An issue that could prevent some data (such as birthdays) from being removed from user profiles will be fixed.
  • A long-standing issue that caused some pages to temporarily show blank content was identified and fixed late last week. If you spot new occurrences of this issue, please let us know.
  • An issue that could cause an extra '/Wiki/' to appear in interwiki links was fixed late last week.

Other Notable Changes

Detailed CSS updates can be found at - the diffs show changes to .css, .scss, .tmpl.php, .html, .sass and .mustache files in Wikia's codebase.

  • Interwiki links no longer convert characters like ':' and '/' into ugly encoded versions (such as '%3A'). Prettier URLs abound!
