Here are the latest technical updates at Wikia. Keep in mind that our system updates happen every Wednesday, so we’re posting this on a Tuesday to give you advance notice. Also note that we change hundreds of tiny details every week, so these are just the highlights.
We'll be adding full wiki navigation to the mobile skin, so that mobile readers can navigate your wiki via the menus you have created. This feature will be compatible with both the expanded (three-levels) wiki nav as well as the old style of navigation. It will also include the Random Page button.
Major Bugs Fixed
Users in Firefox and Chrome should once again be able to vote and view the voting results of wiki polls.
The Editor should now load properly on the Opera browser.
Other Notable Changes
We're adjusting the padding around your wiki wordmark to give it more visual distinction from the Wikia logo above it.
Entertainment wikis now have the beta feature Entertainment Calendar enabled on their wiki. It's very similar to the calendar that has been on the right rail of gaming wikis since the summer, and you can learn more here.
Select Known Issues
Speaking of the Gaming Calendar, there is an issue with the right rail displaying content at the moment.
RSS feeds pulling in news from Google have stopped working. You can work around this bug by running your RSS feed through Feedburner.com to get a more compatible URL.
Users are not able to embed videos from Vimeo at this time.
Resetting preferences to default clears user profile header and avatar.
The Welcome Bot seems to be skipping over new users intermittently on some wikis. If you see this happen, please contact us with URLs of the users who were not greeted so we can gather more examples of this happening.
