Here are the latest technical updates at Wikia. Keep in mind that our system updates happen every Wednesday, so we're posting this on a Tuesday to give you advance notice. Also note that we change hundreds of tiny details every week, so these are just the highlights.
New Features[]
The VisualEditor template tool will receive significant updates:
- The tool will now list all parameters, ordered by the position they occur within the template code. A search filter will let you quickly find the specific parameter you wish to edit using the parameter name or the existing content.
- The tool will be positioned to the side of the template being edited, can be moved, and allows the preview to be refreshed with a button click.
As a quick preview of future updates, we are also working on a better template addition experience, including suggestions and improved search abilities, along with better behaviour when a template has no parameters.
Major Bugs Fixed[]
- Main pages will no longer sometimes be missing the horizontal line between the title and the content area.
- Viewing a left-to-right content wikia with a right-to-left user language will no longer result in some misaligned elements. Note: this fix is already live, and further improvements are planned.
