Joining a "Big Wiki(a)"

Congratulations! You've just stumbled upon a wiki(a) to which you really, really want to contribute. It has an active community, the environment is stable, and there's lots of content...

Only problem: You're afraid of joining it.

Never fear—from experience, I'm giving you a couple of tips on what to do to make yourself less afraid. There is no guarantee that they will work, however...but hey, you'll never know if you don't try first. ;)

Staying Safe on Wikia

(I know countless other users have already done blogs like this, but I'm going to do my own version anyway.)

Staying safe online is getting increasingly difficult these days, especially for young and/or inexperienced users. Wikia may seem like a safe haven at first, but all websites have risks. I cannot guarantee that nothing bad will happen if you follow these bits of advice, but doing so can and probably will greatly reduce your chances of being cyberbullied, stalked, etc.


  • 1 1. Be Aware of What You Reveal
  • 2 2. Don't Listen to Violators (Or Be One Yourself)
  • 3 3. Don't Be Lazy With User Rights
  • 4 4. "If It Ain't Safe, Don't Add It"
