Here are the latest technical updates at Wikia. Keep in mind that our system updates happen every Tuesday and Thursday - today's notes are for tomorrow's site update. Also note that we change hundreds of tiny details every week, so these are just the highlights.

New Features

  • The Community Page will gain a "Community to-do list" section, which can be freely edited by admins. Additionally, the "Help" module is being updated and moved to the top of the right column.
  • Release notes for Wikia's mobile apps will now be listed on Apps Technical Updates on Community Central, and will be updated whenever a major release is made.

Major Bug Fixes

  • We will fix an issue that caused "chat-user-menu-" to be shown in the right rail Help:Chat module instead of the correct text.
  • We will fix an issue that caused "&#160...&#160" to be shown in the pagination on articles with many pages of comments.
  • A source of JS errors when using ImportJS will be fixed.
  • We have previously fixed an issue that caused the "Non-portable infoboxes" Insights list to report non-existent pages outside the template namespace.
  • We recently fixed an issue that caused Admin Dashboard to fail to show pageview statistics at the weekend - missing data should reappear over the next few hours.

Other Notable Changes

Detailed CSS updates can be found at - the diffs show changes to .css, .scss, .tmpl.php, .html, .sass and .mustache files in Wikia's codebase.

  • As part of tweaks to improve Chat stability, we recently introduced a limit to how much text and emoticons can be posted at one time.

Select Known Issues

  • We are aware that Maps based in the real-world are currently showing an error message, and are discussing what the next steps should be.
