Here are the latest technical updates at Wikia. Keep in mind that our system updates happen every Wednesday, so we're posting this on a Tuesday to give you advance notice. Also note that we change hundreds of tiny details every week, so these are just the highlights.

Note: This week's release is scheduled for Thursday, November 13 due to Polish holidays at the beginning of this week.

Major Bugs Fixed

  • Several fixes will improve the behaviour of JavaScript elements that are run after the initial page load. For example: new image galleries on Forum and Wall threads, collapsible tables in article comments, tables of contents within TabView, and more.
  • SVGs will render correctly within the new galleries. This fix is already live.
  • New galleries will now display correctly within the VisualEditor when user language does not match the content language, captions will not cause the selection highlight to extend beyond the editor's edge, and gallery expansion states will carry across into the editor.
  • Wikia's Game Guides app is updated to version 3.0.3 with bug fixes, including a fix that resolves article display issues on devices with iOS 8.

Other Notable Changes

Detailed CSS updates can be found at - the diffs show changes to .css, .scss, .tmpl.php, .html, .sass and .mustache files in Wikia's codebase.

  • The VisualEditor has been retired from Wikia Labs. With the recent preference migration, logged in users should now choose their default editor in their preferences. The 'No preference' option will be retired in the near future.
