This is really hard to write. I've wanted to do this for a while now, but there's not been enough reason. I've always been able to find some excuse to stay around. Now.... I can't find that excuse anymore. As depressing as that is, it means I must take my leave of the site. It's a really deeply thought out decision that I have made. I ask only for you to please understand and to realize that in the past three years, I have been through a lot. Let me review.
In 2012, I joined Monster Hunter Fanon (w:c:mhfanon) and later that year became its administrator. During that year, however, I made many mistakes and alienated many people. I do believe it set the scene for the rest of my Wikia experience, and that scene was one of contempt. I hated the…Read more >
Hello everyone! Today, I'm here to talk about making your Wikia beautiful without taking lessons from CSS masters. It can be hard to decide whether or not to heavily customize a Wikia with CSS or go with Theme Designer designs, but after reading this, I hope most of your questions are answered.
So, one of the great things about Wikia is the vast amount of customization possible on the platform. Admins can use Theme Designer to easily change large amounts of the wiki's styling, or use CSS to change the most minute detail. Almost anything that doesn't break the site or make it too awfully weird goes!
However, this can present a challenge for users looking to make their wikias truly beautiful, but have no CSS knowledge. Popular belief is that i…Read more >
Hello, Wikians! It's been a long time since I've updated the A User's Guide To: series, so this is my attempt at revitalizing it. Without further ado, let's continue on, shall we?
Now, everyone wants to see a pretty wiki. Compare, for example, Community Central to something like w:c:special. The latter, which is an unpopulated and unedited wiki, is very much dull and drab. When visitors see this, they assume the wiki is one of two things:
- An empty wiki.
- A community wiki.
New editors and readers will be instantly turned away upon seeing dull themes like this. However, thanks to movements by Wikia to make it more and more customizable, you don't have to deal with dull things! In this blog, I'm going to attempt to explain how to make your wiki beaut…

Hi. Today is the day I'll tell you all my best tips and tricks for troubleshooting issues, giving advice, and helping issues via Community Central Chat.
This is a pretty big topic, so I'll try to just cover the largest, most obvious points. Hopefully, through reading, you can gain insight on how to give the best advice in any situation!
Simple! Lots of users want to help. In fact, I can't think of more than one or two users on chat who have never so much as tried to help. However, it's said that even the road to Hell is paved in good intentions. That's not to say that road can't be changed or that pavement can't be changed to good results, though! As long as you're willing to help and willing to change your own habits, you can become …

I write to protest the unnecessary changes that have been coming to Wikia. I'm sure you know what changes I'm talking about -- they've been happening since 2010. Skin changes, color changes, branding changes -- wikia is an online company, so things will always grow. I understand that. But there are bold, sudden, and plain unnecessary changes that have been arriving of late.
What I'm specifically talking about is the "updated global navigation." Many users, including myself, have displayed massive amounts of disagreement with this change. As of today, 12/3/2014, it was pushed to all wikias. There are so many reasons that I disagree with this change. It would be indeed difficult to state them all in one blog and truly capture the blat…Read more >
