FANDOM

Hi guys! Today, I wanted to go over a topic I have written multiple blogs as a semi-link to, but for the sake of generalization, I decided I would provoke the discussion of leadership as whole. I realize I have gone into some topics, such as bonding as a community and the difference between leaders and admins, but why not cover the whole umbrella pertaining to them?

True Leadership

I have been in several Fandom communities throughout my 5 years, and there are some Wikis that are genuinely ruled with an iron fist by a sole admin. When I mention these Wikis, I'm not referring to the ones with clear policies and a badmin- I'm referring to the Wikis with one person taking full charge and ruling everything; not counting others' opinions. In my eyes, that is not necessarily a wise example of true leadership. If somebody expects to be a leader, they must earn the respect of their fellow community- I touched on this lightly in my admin vs. leadership blog, as well.

How To Rise

One does not simply wake up one morning and go "I want to be a leader"- being a leader is not quite a goal you can measure the success of. Why? Because deep down inside, everybody is capable of leading in some form, whether they may expose that piece of them or not. The thing with being a leader is understanding that what you might want is not always what is best for everybody else. Sometimes, you will need to put your own personal feelings aside for the welfare of the community you serve, and although many people tend to get caught up in their emotional bias, it is what could harm even the best of communities.

Choose Your Legacy

I will be writing a separate blog on this whole thing later, but I will start the outline in this section: you can choose your own legacy here on Wikia- or anywhere, for that matter. You have the ability to choose how you will serve your community, and even if you have your own way of going about it, that is perfectly okay. Do not fret because you believe you have a lesser contribution than others. In the end, everybody has their strengths and weaknesses. For example, some people work better with their coding and computer programming, while others like me are rather social. It is up to you to create your own legacy on Wikia.. which leads me to mine.

What Is My Legacy?

As somebody who has been a member of Central for a long time, I have seen quite a bit. I have been inspired by many people in this community. All of you have managed to teach me patience, wisdom, and tolerance for those who might share views unlike mine. I have come to foster a deep-rooted compassion for all of the members here on Community Central, and that is why I am honored to announce that I have been selected to fulfill an administrator role here. I look forward to taking the next steps here, and I am immensely grateful for the support that people have offered me, and those who have believed in me. <3
