Top 3 Games at PAX & Their Awesome Wikis

This past weekend, I attended the Penny Arcade Expo (affectionately known as PAX) in Seattle, Washington. It was an incredibly fun three-day event filled with exciting gaming news and developments. There were a number of noteworthy games on display, but three games in particular generated a significant amount of buzz. I’m especially excited to highlight these games because there are some awesome wiki communities building content about them on Wikia:

This offbeat action title which stars a chainsaw-wielding cheerleader had several games journalists raving. Fans are excited for the game as well — at PAX, a long line of people waited for a chance to play the demo. Celebrated designer Suda51, best known for his No More Heroes titles, is the lead…

Big Announcements From E3

E3 2011 has come and gone. Last week, I went to L.A. to hear about exciting new announcements in the gaming world. You might have been following updates on our Wikia Gaming blog, but here’s a quick round-up of conference highlights in case you missed anything.

L.A. Noire Giveaway, Plus Fun Extras

To celebrate, we’re giving away five free copies of the game -- you can find out how to enter the contest here. While you’re at it, cruise around the comprehensive L.A. Noire Wiki for more information about the game. The community is doing a great job of cataloguing everything noteworthy, from character bios and case descriptions to an expanding list of featured locations. In fact, the wiki had more than 1.3 million page views and 4,000 edits …

Portal 2 Giveaway

It wasn’t the cutest gaming character ever... nor was it the most helpful. It wasn’t soft, it wasn’t snuggly, and it didn’t have big, round eyes—heck, it didn’t have any eyes, period. And yet, for reasons we can’t understand, the Weighted Companion Cube from Valve’s Portal stole our hearts, and we were devastated when ours was “euthanized.”

Luckily, Valve saw fit to release a plush version of everyone’s favorite multi-faceted friend. We ordered one as soon as we found out they existed, and it’s been providing us with weighted companionship ever since.

We realize that a lot of gamers out there are still dealing with the sting of losing their own WCCs. Since the wound has been reopened with the release of Portal 2, we've decided to take seriou…
