Predators forward Martin Erat did not skate Saturday morning, and will sit out his first game of the season at the Sharks. Erat took a puck in the foot/ankle area in Friday’s practice at HP Pavilion in San Jose. He had to be helped off the ice and was visibly limping as he walked to the dressing room.

Erat is tied for Nashville’s lead in scoring with four points in seven games. The Predators came into the game, averaging 1.57 goals per contest and fired just 21.9 shots on goal per game. Both were NHL worsts

The Predators are going with seven defensemen and put 2007 first round pick Jonathon Blum in the lineup. This is Blum’s first game of the season for Nashville. Blum had played 34 games with the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League during the NHL lockout and notched 12 points.
