Theme Song[]

Main Article: Theme Song (Ultimate Alien)
The theme song is notable for showing an in-artstyle still of every transformation ever seen in the franchise up to that point, despite some of them not ever appearing in the show. It also shows the five Andromeda aliens and the first six Ultimate Forms.

The first four notes of the theme song would go on to become a motif that represents Ultimate Alien in the franchise.

Trivia[]

  • It was called Ben 10: Evolutions[DM 1] and Ben 10: Ultimatrix[ES 1] during the pre-production stages.
    • The series was in the works as early as September 26, 2008[DM 2] and was officially announced on March 25, 2009.[DM 3]
  • The series ended up being very different from what the crew hoped to do, but they came up with something else they liked.[DM 4]
  • Cartoon Network ordered 20 episodes of Ultimate Alien to begin with, added six more while they waited to see if they wanted to do more, then added another 26 to bring the total episode count to 52.[1][ES 2]
  • By the time of Dwayne McDuffie's death on February 20, 2011, all the writing and recording was finished on Ultimate Alien. All that was left was some animation and post-production on the last few episodes.[ES 3]
  • The series premiered in the United Kingdom, Australia, Asia, Middle East and Latin America on 10/10/2010 at 10:00 A.M. on Cartoon Network.
    • This is also the day a marathon of the episodes came on with a contest for the 10/10/10 event in the U.S.
  • Seasons 1 and 2 were combined to form Season 1 when aired,[DM 5][DM 6][DM 7][DM 8] while Season 3 was split into Seasons 2 and 3.
  • Several storylines in Ultimate Alien were originally meant for Season 2 of Alien Force, namely the ones involving Ultimate Kevin in Season 2[ES 4][DM 4] and Vilgax impersonating Dagon in Season 3.[DM 9]
  • Comic book writer Marv Wolfman agreed to write an episode for the series, but his episode went unpublished.[DM 10]
  • There was going to be a live-action Ultimate Alien movie. Ryan Kelley was signed on to reprise his role in two follow-up movies, but due to differences between executives at Cartoon Network, the films were never put into production.[AC 1]
